I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, especially in a way that may seem quite unprofessional, but I do have to preserve IMAGINE CON's honesty and good faith. I also want you to know that we here at IMAGINE CON tried our very best and gave all involved ample opportunity to correct this problem before it got to this point. Ray Park's appearance at IMAGINE CON 2000 has officially and unfortunately been cancelled. Ray's agent Larry Bore has managed to drive yet another stake into the hearts of Ray's fans. This whole deal about the non-payment of Ray's appearance fees is a big hoax and obviously a meager attempt at keeping agent Larry Bore from looking any worse than he already does with his sparkling track record. We met with Ray and Larry at Chiller Theater last April, discussed his appearance at IMAGINE CON and struck up a deal. A couple of weeks later we got word from Larry that all was a go, went to the bank that day and did an electronic bank to bank money transfer which satisfied our end of the contract! This whole cancellation thing started when we were negotiating airline tickets. We found that the prices for first class tickets from London to Norfolk were astronomical so we contacted Larry to see if we could work something out with the flights. Larry asked us if we wanted him to see if he could get cheaper tickets and naturally we agreed. Larry contacted us the next day and said here are the prices, the flights are confirmed, send me $18.000.00. He actually expected us to send him the money right away without giving us any kind of proof that he had even checked on the flights. At this point I had been dealing with Larry for nine months and after numerous requests still couldn't get him to send us a signed contract stating that he had received the money we wired to him after Chiller Theater. Now I'm thinking to myself I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night, no way am I sending this guy another dime, he must take us for fools. Anyway what came of all this is Larry started demanding we pay him for the airline tickets or the whole deal was off. Larry never purchased any tickets and I don't know if he ever really booked or even checked on tickets. I received a completely illegible fax two months into this airline fiasco that was supposed to be a flight schedule or something, but by this time it was too late. Our agreement was to provide round trip air travel from London to Norfolk, not purchase tickets from Larry Bore. He has used this as his slimy little vehicle to get out of yet another appearance. I can also pretty much assure you that this is all Larry's doing and not Ray's because we were using Larry for a few other guests who will remain unnamed, and darn! wouldn't you know it? We just received a phone call from one of these guests wanting a little information on the show. When asked what he had been told about the show thus far the response was, "not much; Larry has been keeping me in the dark about this whole thing," which leaves me no choice but to believe he has treated all the other guests in this same manner. Please accept my deepest apologies for not being able to bring Ray to IMAGINE CON and for airing this matter out in public but I wanted to clear up any misconceptions and let the fans know the real deal! My feelings on this whole deal are like baseball. Three strikes Larry and you're oooouuuuutttt! On the brighter side we are working on some exciting replacement guests and Ray or no Ray IMAGINE CON 2000 is going to ROCK!!! Dennis Hansen - Vice ChairmanIMAGINE CON | ||
